Name: En

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Appearance: En is of average height with a thin frame and build. His lavender hair is unkempt, often windblown in some direction or another, and his eyes are a stormy gray. Overall his appearance would be unremarkable, but upon closer looking, his entire form is gaunt though not malnourished. Rather he appears ill. His skin is pale and his hands are often cold. He always wears a scarf about his neck and a vest over a worn shirt. As if a testament to his sick nature, En's arms are covered entirely in bandages, from shoulder to the palm of his hands. The bandages themselves appeared aged but there is no hint of blood on the fabric. Despite all appearances, En doesn't move with the energy of a sick boy. His face doesn't seem to hold any other expression but an irritated frown.

Personality: En is nothing short of rude and a complete jerk. He is quick to lay out the insults when his mouth is open and settles with glaring when there is nothing to say. Though he seems to perpetually angry and irritated, this is the face that he always wears. When angered, En isn't one for mercy and is often quite ruthless, more often than not falling for the temptation to draw his guns. Needless to say, he doesn't have too many friends nor cares to make any. At his core, En is rather suspicious of everyone. This has lead him to refrain from staying in one place. However, despite his campaign to seemingly make an enemy of the world, En's temper is well controlled. He has a level head and can make decisions well, even in the heat of the moment. He seems to hold a mild dislike for churches and its' clergymen.

History: En's real name is Nebil Lorgancraft and his childhood was mostly unremarkable. His mother was a housewife, as her poor health kept her confined to her home, and his father a head scientist for the government. His father was mostly absent for most of Nebil's childhood, and when he returned home, he never once paid too much attention to his son. He would often argue with his wife long into the night, but whenever Nebil would confront his mother about newfound bruises, his mother would simply turn away, constantly fixated on something in the distance. Despite the neglect from his father and the growing distance he had with his mother, Nebil always considered his life normal and never suspected anything.

When he was about age seven, his mother disappeared without a word the night before nor any warning signs beforehand. His father made more and more frequent trips back home, giving neither an explanation for his mother's absence nor any more attention than what he had offered before. If anything it seemed he had taken his work back home. He hardly made meals for his son, was prone to scolding the boy for his misbehavior and stuffed pills down his throat whenever he complained about a cold or a fever.

Eventually Nebil's health began to deteriorate just as his mother's had. Many had begun to assume it was because of bad genetics, but he began to have suspicions that the pills his father was making him take daily were doing him harm. When confronting his father about this, his father only gave a sly grin. He took his son to his laboratory that day, had his own home demolished, and handed his only son off to a governmental run Rune Projects. They cast away his name, assigned him the number N-0687 and threw him into a cage. His son had only just turned ten.

Having proved incompatible with the main project, or perhaps a request made by his father, Nebil was transferred to a branch project run by his father. From then on, his father began branding rune after rune on his arms with an heated rod. Numerous test were run to check the compatibility the runes had with the multitudes of children, all 687 and counting of them, and more importantly, the rune's affect on the user's health. Their intent was to create weapons of war. Though Nebil was able to wield the rune's power, his control over them was laughable and they deemed him a failure test after test. Each successive use caused his health to deteriorate further, often leading to loss of appetite and decreased desire for sleep despite the fatigue wearing on his body. The runes inscribed on his body were rejecting him. Nevertheless, his father continued the experiments.

It was only six months that Nebil remained inside the laboratory before he dared to escape. He managed to hide in a nearby run down church, eluding the guards who had their hands full trying to cover up their heinous projects. He wasn't, however, able to hide from his father. Proclaiming his son's uselessness and cowardice, the man moved on his son, intent on taking the boy's life. The ensuing struggle was quick, leaving Nebil with the burden of slaying his own father in cold blood.

In the nine years that elapsed, Nebil, without a place to return to for shelter, wandered the streets and slept at any stranger's home who pitied him enough to let him stay the night. However, his increasingly cold attitude did not leave him in a single house for longer than a few days. He worked as an apprentice to a weapons smith, learned how to wield a gun, and then was able to work as a mercenary. If anyone had ever asked where the boy had come from, he simply replied that he was a traveler. He took on the name of En from then on, almost as a memento to the number that his father had reduced him to. Despite the kindness of all the people he had encountered, En's distrust of the general populace, especially the adult figures of his life, only increased with time.

The rest of En's fate was decided in the roleplay Song of the Raven. (There are some discrepancies with the roleplay and this profile since I hadn't fully fleshed out En in the beginning)

Weapon: En carries two pistols openly strapped to his belt at his back. His proficiency with the guns is above average and his carries several clips of ammo in a pouch strapped to his leg.

Ability: En is able to wield the power of the runes that were inscribed on his arms. They consist of the basic runes, Fire (Igis), Water (Aqueis), Wind (Arcus), and Earth (Terra). Two more runes were inscribed onto the back of his hands before his escape, namely Life (Spiri) and Death (Morti), but those were incomplete and have not been tested to work. These runes have created in En an affinity with other inscribed runes. Often times he only needs to touch them in order for them to activate. However, because the runes are simply using his body as an energy source rather than a medium, every time En uses a rune, it takes a toll on his life span. He limits his use of the runes as much as possible, relying on his pistols whenever he can.
